Dental Caries is the most common disease of children. At Silver Spring Pediatric Dentistry, our focus is on preventive care. Our goal is to create positive experiences that will be the foundation for a lifetime of excellent oral health care.
Our Preventive Services include:
Dental Cleanings and Exam
Routine dental cleanings and oral exams are the most important part of preventive service. Routine dental visits allow us to evaluate your child’s oral health and track the development of teeth. With regular cleanings, you can prevent the buildup of plaque and tartar on your child’s teeth and reduce their risk of gum disease and cavities.

X-rays may be needed periodically for various reasons such as to assess caries, evaluate erupting teeth, diagnose bone diseases, evaluate the results of an injury, or plan orthodontic treatment. If dental problems are diagnosed and treated early, dental treatments can be more comfortable and affordable.
Diet and Nutrition Tips
Diet is an important factor in cavity prevention. We will discuss dietary habits, any special dietary restrictions and come up with a plan to help you and your child make more dentally conscious choices.
Oral Hygiene Instructions
At-home oral care is the most important part of preventing cavities. During your child’s visit, Dr. Kafle and the team will discuss proper brushing and flossing techniques. We will identify any areas that your child needs to work on with brushing and flossing and educate both you and your child about at-home oral care, proper nutrition, and how to care for your child’s teeth more effectively.
Fluoride
Fluoride is one of the most beneficial things about preventative dentistry, as it helps restore enamel and make your teeth healthier. It can be in your water and in your toothpaste, and it helps your teeth and mouth health.
